The Friends of Kinyambu is a project in support of the school and village of Kinyambu in Kenya. The project has two parts:
1) Friends of Kinyambu, will provide regular support funds to the school to purchase resources and
2) The Kinyambu Primary School Library project, working with Cardinal Leger School in Saskatoon, is raising money to build a library.

We welcome your contributions

Friends of Kinyambu is very much a group venture and we welcome your input. Please feel free to click on the "comment" below each blog and leave a note. I hope you will also click on the follow button and stay in touch with the blog. We will be bringing you more information about the needs of "our" school, and updates as to how our funds are making a difference. There will be pictures!

Here is a cute little video of the children singing For Connie and her son Philip when they visited the school:

  1. The letter writing by the Kinyambu children will be sufficient english practice to understand other subjects and hence perform better in examinations that are set in english.

Fencing of the school will protect the trees that have been planted from destruction by cows and goats from the neighbourhood. All this will be made possible by support from Cardinal Leger school and Friends Of Kinyambu.

A reading culture will also be will be developed when the library will be constructed.

The school started a boarding wing on 16th January 2011. Seventy pupils from standard seven and eight were the first boarders and more pupils are expected to board but most of the pupils will from standard one to six will remain day scholars. What we call standard here is what canadians call grade. standard seven and eight are the 7th & 8th year at school.
